Revelator Birmingham

Located in a newly redeveloped building, Revelator found a large, lofty storefront space downtown Birmingham in which to open their first coffee bar. To carry light throughout the space, we created a ‘light core’ at its center—using architectural elements, materials and fixtures to brighten and articulate the previously dark shell.

Revelator Coffee hired us to create their architectural brand, and to adapt it as they rolled out across the southern United States. The overall look is streamlined and industrial, in an inviting, light-filled atmosphere.

The open-bar fosters collegial community between baristas and customers, and offers easy visibility of the sleek coffee and tea equipment. A minimal, sophisticated palette of materials—white oak, concrete, painted steel—finishes the overall experience of the space.

These brand elements were translated into a “kit of parts” that could be adapted to bring their stylish, airy and communal vibe to each new location, including Revelator Chattanooga and Revelator New Orleans.
